Minister of Energy Salah Khebri on Sunday has commissioned 3 MW solar power plant in Kabertene, in the commune of Tissabit (Adrar, 1543-km south of Algiers).

The new solar plant, which is part of the national renewable energy programme for southern provinces of the country, will contribute to improve electricity supply in the region, particularly during summer.

The DZD770 million solar power plant was built over an area of six hectares by a Chinese company with modern technology at low cost.

It generated during the construction phase 300 indirect jobs, in addition to 33 direct jobs during the exploitation phase.

The solar power plant will contribute to the protection of environment and the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

During his working visit to the region, the Energy minister also inspected a wind farm with a capacity of 10 MW and which supplies the nearby power plant.
