The discussion around the future global demand, supply and reserve-situation is intensifying.
Are we actually running out of oil (and gas) or not? And if so when?
Will the reserves collapse or will new finds take care of the future?
Will production keep up with demand? And if not, what then?

Reflections after the Global Peak Oil Gathering

Indeed the gathering was very well organised and the idea of combining it with the "Plasma Team" concept was novel and enabled better appreciation of viewpoints and ideas that were not necessarily in sync with individual's thinking.

I felt more strongly about the need for a continuing dialogue at international level, although in my opening remarks before making the presentation I had proposed it.

Another beneficial fallout has been the connectivity that the gathering enabled among the participants for sustaining communication in days ahead.

About Peak Oil: Whether the peak has reached already for global supply or not is not the limited issue, it is a broader issue for humanity for its sustainable development.

Director General, Petroleum Federation of India

Certainly the most outstanding event I have ever been to.

"Confidence comes out of experience
and experience comes out of knowledge."

The result of the two-days participation in the "Peak Oil Gathering" is the gathering of knowledge and optimism that with the human intelligence having no limitation for "creativity" can overcome any impediment of looming energy crisis and find a solution for improvement of the quality of human life for the present and future generations.

This is the message I would like to convey, back at our place after our return.

Alexander,

I wish to add my thanks to you and your team for a very well-run event.

Your style of keeping the emotion out of quite an emotional subject was greatly appreciated, and I certainly learned a lot.

Best Regards,

Dear Alexander,

This is Eddy from Brazil.

I am writing you to thanks again for the beautiful opportunity you gave me to participate in the Global Peak Oil Gathering.

It was an excellent event indeed. I hope you are doing fine and let´s try to figure out some other activities we may develop together in the future. Maybe in Brazil?!

Prof. dos Santos
Brazil

Spoken reflections after the workshop:

Thomas Pedersen
Denmark:

I got a better sense of the big picture as well as a better clarity of the details. I met some great people and got the feeling that there is awareness around the world.

I got the sense that the exact date of Peak Oil is irrelevant since it is already too late to avoid the consequences. The sooner we start doing something about developing and implementing alternatives, the better.

It all starts with myself. I have a personal responsibility to spread and utilise my knowledge for the good of mankind, including myself!

The solution to Peak Oil and environmental problems go hand in hand. Therefore I have a clear sense of the direction we must head now!

Franzi Poldy
Australia:

I came with "is it real?" I'm more confident and convinced. I don't know what to do about it, I'm a pessimist.

I still can't really imagine that the solutions will work out.

I'm happy to see a linkage to the climate problem.

Hilda
Ecuador:

It is real and a question of time. There is an urgent need to make the government aware, it's time!

People don't think about the seriousness of the situation.

Ernst von Aaken
Germany:

This has been a big encouragement and a very special way of working together.

The Chinese symbol of ‚chance' and ‚crisis' is the same. This has been the spirit here.

India:

We have been meeting such eminent people here and heard such lovely presentations. It has been a rich experience.

India:

It was enriching not to look only for your own company but the whole world.

Jeremy Leggett
UK:

I had already decided to campaign this issue. When I come in 5 years time, this conference will be a huge international thing.

This is real. And it is helping to make things better.

Prof. dos Santos
Brazil:

I came as a spy, especially for Mr. Campbell. I didn't understand his ideas.

I want to apologize for the stress for this long time and thank him.

And I'm leaving with 2 or 3 question marks!
